Managing Director Germany (m/f)

Our client is an international, publicly traded retailer for energy products and services. An early-stage presence in the German market has already been established. The successful candidate will develop strategies, products and sales channels to scale-up a profitable and sustainable energy sales business in Germany. We are looking for a focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience in scaling an organization and developing a performance culture among a group of diverse, talented individuals. The person must be a leader who is able to see the bigger picture, but is also detail oriented with a hands-on leadership style. She should be able to develop a vision and at the same time deliver measurable, cost-effective results. Key tasks include:

 

  • Develop a strategy and vision to build a profitable and sustainable business
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities
  • Leading the organization to ensure the successful expansion in the German market
  • Analyze sales-channels and initiate campaigns
  • Develop new business areas, products and pricings
  • Serve as a leader of the organization and provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence
  • Communicate and maintain trust relationships with stakeholders
  • Provide strategic advice to the senior management in regard of the German market

 

The ideal candidate has his (or her) strength in the combination of energy market know-how, strong sales background and hands-on management expertise. In Detail, the background includes:

  • Results-proven management track record in building up a B2C and B2B sales organization in the energy industry. Experience in consulting is beneficiary but not necessary
  • Evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience, and judgment; high level of business acumen including successful P&L management
  • The ability to balance the delivery of ideas against the realities of a budget; and problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan
  • Ability to effectively build organization and staff capacity, developing a top-notch workforce and the processes that ensure the organization runs smoothly
  • Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people; a team builder who has experience in scaling up organizations; ability to connect staff both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in a position to succeed
  • Thorough understanding of finance, sales, systems, and HR; broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources, and marketing
  • Solid educational background; MBA or similar advanced degree highly desired
